CWS Submits Comments on California’s Worker Walkaround Proposed Rule

On April 1, the Coalition for Workplace Safety and dozens of other employer organizations submitted comments on the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health’s proposed worker walkaround rulemaking. The regulation mimics the worker walkaround regulation pursued by the Biden-era Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which CWS opposed.

The following can be attributed to CWS spokesperson Lauren Williams:

“Cal/OSHA’s proposed rule will discourage employer cooperation, slow down inspections, and jeopardize worker safety and health. The rule is based on an equally flawed federal OSHA standard, which is being challenged in federal court. Both the Cal/OSHA and OSHA standards conflict with the Constitution and the National Labor Relations Act, violate employer property rights, and endanger employer trade secrets. Cal/OSHA should withdraw this proposal.”
